# 16 – Tohamas

tohamas was sitting next to me at victrola coffee on beacon ave. he’s from gary, indiana. he’s an illustrator and was working on a children’s greeting card and caricatures of some harlem globetrotters. coincidentally, we had both just had our haircut down the street from the cafe. i asked him what he was working on in his personal life. his answer: maturing.

in home studio

Jordan came over today and showed me how to set up an in-home studio using butcher paper. Macklemore modeled his monkey chain and levitation skills. Laila pulled out her violin.

This casio is going to featured in a film purdy soon.

# 15 – Lisa

A week or so ago my sister, her husband and I were driving from DC to Cleveland in the middle of the night and decided to stop at a WaffleHouse. That sign sucked us in. The three of us grew up outside of the US and as such none of us had ever been to one. It seems that no matter how many times we learn that most of these places make you feel disgusting afterwards, we keep going back.

Lisa served us there. She was working the night shift, so when we came in at 4am she was getting ready to leave at 5. She told me that the only thing she was working on was saving for a new car. Her co-worker AJ, who wouldn’t let me take his was pretty interesting. Overhearing me ask Lisa what she was working on in life, he yelled over his shoulder as he ducked out into the cold for a ciggie break – “I’m working on getting out of jail!!”

Lisa chuckled and looked up at me from the dishes she was clearing. She nodded, “Yup, thats true!”

# 14 – Isabella

I met Isabella yesterday at Mcpherson’s, my local fruit and veggie market. She works there to help support her 7 month old daughter. She said its been hard having a child so young (she’s 17) but she’s grateful that her daughter Jossyln is healthy and that both her and the father’s family are supportive.
